Don't forget to make some memories!

Yeah, It Really Happened

Yeah, It Really Happened

Anyone else ever rushed their child to the doctor to remove an embedded plastic bunny ear from a nostril? Yeah, that happened.

Do you enjoy phone conversations with mothers of young children as much as I do?

“I can meet you at 9:30 at – Emma Kathryn, honey, get out of the dishwasher!

“I was trying to get the – John Daniel, don’t eat your brother!”

“We were at the – Jeremiah, why are you sprawled out across my dashboard?” This conversation has monkey noises in the background.

And there was the time Kristina innocently shared a personal matter with the owner of our favorite pizza place. It was months before I had the courage to return.

When she was four, she bit me from behind as I spoke with our choir director. Extremely embarrassed, I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Her oldest retaliated in kind when he was a toddler.

When she was three, I walked into the dining room to find thousands of tiny beads dumped onto the carpet from their sorting trays. Now she has four blessings of her own.

Children add such a delightful spice to life! Oh, the tricks they play, but oh, the prayers they pray!

Father, help us to slow down and cherish the moments,

wrap our arms around these precious treasures

 and laugh at the blessed absurdities

that are beautifully woven within the tapestries of our lives.

And as each moment melts quickly away,

may it be permanently branded within our hearts and minds.

And may we always remember

that when we are close to our children,

we’re actually close to You!

“…the disciples came to Jesus, saying,

“Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

Then Jesus called a little child to Him,

set him in the midst of them, and said,

…Whoever receives one little child like this in My name

receives Me.”

Matthew 18:1-5 NKJV

~~~~~
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
James 1:17 NKJV
By the way, there were no lizards harmed in making the photograph. It’s a toy.
  1. I loved this article, Connie! And gotta say, I’m relieved it wasn’t a live lizard–for the little one’s sake and for yours, even more than the lizard’s! 🙂
