Don't forget to make some memories!

Oh, the Prayers of Christmas!

Oh, the Prayers of Christmas!

Jesus was a Master at taking ordinary, earthly things and assigning them spiritual significance. When He saw Peter and Andrew fishing, He told them He’d make them fishers of men (Matt. 4). His heart exploded with compassion for people because they were like sheep without a shepherd, meaning they were lost, they needed God (Matt. 9). When the disciples urged Him to eat food, He told them His food was to complete the mission God sent Him to do (John 4).

So we’ll use the trimmings of Christmas to inspire us to pray.  Let’s get started!

When we see a snowflake,

Father, each child is unique.

Please help me to recognize and nurture

the distinct gifts You’ve given each of them.

May they walk in purity and holiness

before You and the watching world.

A cross,

May each member of my family be willing to fully surrender their life,

take up their cross and follow You daily

wherever this may lead. (Luke 9:23)

Candles,

Father, please set our hearts on fire,

an unquenchable passion for

You, Your Word, Your Will, Your Wisdom…

May we bear the light and love of Christ

throughout this world that seems

to grow darker and colder

with each passing day.

Reindeer,

As the deer pants for water,

Father, may my family and friends so desperately

desire to walk in Your Presence

and to do Your Will. (Psalm 42:1)

Santa kneeling at the Baby Messiah,

May Christ be the focus of our affections and attentions

throughout this holy season.

Wise men,

We long for people throughout the world to seek You

with all of their hearts.

Norris (3) 12-03-14Stars,

May our family and friends enjoy the wisdom of Daniel

that leads vast multitudes to righteousness. (Dan. 12:3)

Hot Chocolate,

We pray that people throughout the world

will taste and see that our Lord is wonderful. (Psalm 34:8)

Nativity sets,

Like Mary, may we mothers

ponder those things You show us about our children,

Your children,

in our hearts.

Christmas napkins,

Create in me a clean heart, O Lord, my God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
