HEARTwork ~ HOMEwork

HEARTwork ~ HOMEwork

With ever-increasing demands of time for schoolwork and activities, how do we maintain our influence and follow God’s mandate to impress His love and will upon our children when we sit in our homes, walk by the way, lie down, and rise up? (Deuteronomy 6:7)

√ As the alarm goes off each morning, Father, help me to equip these children to be all You designed them to be, and to stir them to accomplish great exploits for Your glory. May they be children of great discernment and great influence. And teach them to pray: Father, I want to be all You designed me to be, performing great exploits for the honor and glory of Your holy name!

√ Begin each day with Bible study – rising a few minutes early to feed them fresh manna before breakfast. We cannot live by bread alone. (Matthew 4:4)

√ Keep a small Bible and devotional in the car and have someone read it during any commute time.

√ My daughter places her hands on her children, blessing them before they exit the car. Verbally affirming them as you part ways will protect and prepare them to face the challenges of each day.

√ As they walk away, Father, please surround them with friends and teachers who will inspire them to seek You with all their hearts. May Your Presence serve to protect them spiritually and physically…

√ While shopping for school supplies, purchase items that reflect your faith. Suggest they ask God to write the story of their lives each time they pick up a pencil.

√ Stuff notes in their backpacks, books, and lunches – Scripture and encouragement.

√ When they arrive home, make every attempt to be there or designate time with them as soon as you arrive home. It’s our duty to know what they’re learning and to walk with them through their experiences in life.

√ Hang a star on their wall so that when they lie down, you can pray together, Father, may we shine like the brightness of the stars forever, leading vast multitudes to righteousness. (Daniel 12:3)

√ Know when they’re testing and encourage them with the following:

“Call to Me and I will answer you,

and I will tell you great and mighty things,

which you do not know.”

Jeremiah 33:3 NASB

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:13 NKJV
