Don't forget to make some memories!

Fear Not

Fear Not

Even for children, life can be painful or complicated. How can we create memories and inspire prayer while comforting or preparing them for difficult seasons?

Visit a zoo or aviary. Take a picnic and discuss: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26 NIV

Spend time together watching the Eagle or Loon Cam at While watching, read Psalm 91 and discuss how God guards, nurtures, and guides His children. Begin bedtime prayers with, “But those who wait on the Lord
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

Purchase a birdhouse kit, encouraging the kids to be creative while decorating it. Discuss how we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. (Ephesians 2:10) Hang each house somewhere special, associating it with Psalm 84, which beautifully describes the significance of fellowship with God among other believers – even sparrows build their nests near His altars. Blessed are those whose strength is in God. Better is one day in the courts of the Lord than thousands anywhere else!

Father God,

please show us how to teach the children You’ve given us

to stand firm when they face adversity.

May they continually recognize that You are there

to comfort and encourage them

in every circumstance they may ever face.

And may they be faithful to encourage others.

Hold them fast in the shadow of Your holiness

as they live out each moment of their destiny.

To You be all praise and honor and glory,

in the holy Name of Jesus we pray.

Because You have been my help,

therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

Psalm 73:7 NKJV

“For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,

saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”

Isaiah 41:13 NKJV

I am praying with you and for you. If you’d like further encouragement or ideas, please connect with me on Facebook.
