Answering Prayers

Answering Prayers

Teaching our children how to be an answer to the prayers of others produces leaders with a heart for ministry.

Try following a format Jesus offered in Matthew 25:

  • –“For I was hungry, and you fed Me”: While seeking God’s blessing during mealtime, ask Him to give your family opportunities to feed someone who’s hungry. He will. We keep bags in our car that have non-perishable foods, plastic utensils, and napkins with Scripture. With each bag, pray the recipient will hunger for God, His Word, and righteousness.

  • –“I was thirsty, and you gave Me a drink”: Glue Scripture around water bottles. Seek opportunities to give them away. Pray that each recipient will thirst for Living Water.

  • –“I was a stranger, and you invited Me into your home”: Ask God for opportunities to demonstrate hospitality.
  • –“I was naked, and you gave Me clothing”: Purchase fleece pajamas, warm sweaters, jackets, or blankets when they are on sale. Keep a bag in the back of your car. God will show you who to give them to.

  • –“I was sick and you cared for Me”: Let your children plan a menu and help prepare a meal for an individual or family who would appreciate this blessing. Using legal size paper, your children can make cheerful placemats or cut flowers to put in an empty pickle jar with a ribbon tied around it. Try to send disposable containers (foil baking trays, tea in empty juice jugs, vegetables in quart jars) so there is no burden of returning dishes.

  • –“I was in prison, and you visited Me”: Shop for Angel Tree children whose parents are in prison – fulfilling the desires of those incarcerated.
