Doug Peterson is the Gold-Medallion-winning author of over 60 books—42 of them for the popular VeggieTales series. Today, he writes historical novels and screenplays, including The Disappearing Man, which was selected by Canton, Ohio, for its One Book, One Community program.
Doug’s four novels explore the topic of freedom, with two of them based on real-life Underground Railroad escapes, one based on the first African-American spy of the Civil War, and one based on actual events surrounding the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall.
Doug is also the co-storywriter for the best-selling VeggieTales video, Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed, and he has been a writer for the University of Illinois since 1979. He lives in Champaign, Illinois, with his wife Nancy, an individual and family therapist for over 30 years. Although he has had a passion for writing since first grade, his greatest passions are his faith and family. Doug and Nancy have two grown sons.
