Don't forget to make some memories!

Love is in the Air

Love is in the Air

It’s that wonderful time of year when the birds start to sing, and the flowers begin to bloom. It’s also the beginning of wedding season. As parents, we think many times that those days are far off in the future, but many of us are facing the reality that it’s closer than we think. Still more of you already are walking this road with your daughters and even sons and wedding planning is firmly in your minds.

During this time, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the details of all that needs to be done but finding décor to make an event hall or church building more wedding friendly doesn’t have to be one of them. Many times, in an effort to save money, many crafty mamas have taken on the task of putting together the additional décor, but the trends help during this time. The crafty farmhouse style is still very popular, and instead of having to do it all yourself you can pick and choose fun piece that still fit the “homemade” appeal.

Many of these pieces can additionally be used as gifts for the new couple’s home and serve a dual purpose making them an even more frugal choice. Décor that can be used for both wedding and new home can be useful and a blessing. This multi-use trend in the gift and furniture industry is smart not just because it’s frugal. Using things for more than one event also creates less of a storage issue as well. Trying to store furniture and décor to be used again and again can be difficult and things don’t always last well and trends change through the years.

I hope that as you weather the season of change in your homes—as your young adults prepare to launch their own beginnings in new homes of their own—that you will be encouraged and inspired to find multi-use gifts. While the flurry of planning and preparing is overwhelming as well, I pray that you find rest and peace knowing that you’ve done your job well and that God’s grace will abound for the new couple’s next steps.
