Don't forget to make some memories!

Fun Days Menu

Fun Days Menu

Fun days and fun food.  Don’t you just love to have a day with your children or grandchildren just to have fun, be silly, play games, or watch funny movies? I used to love to sneak and stand by the door of my children’s rooms to hear them playing—to hear their laughter and the joy in their voices.

Today as a grandmother I love to do the same things with my grandsons.  My 7-year-old is so funny. I love hearing his jokes that he thinks are so hilarious, but they don’t make any sense. I still laugh.

He does some of the funniest tricks in the pool and we play like we’re fish. We hear that “laughter is the best medicine” and I know this is true.  Of course to go along with these days we need fun food.

So I have a “Fun Days” menu for us today with ham and cheese crescent rolls and sunshine cookies. You can keep these ingredients on hand for an impromptu day or prepare for a planned day. It’s easy and definitely one the children can be involved in to add even more fun. They not only taste good but they look so bright and cheery.  So grab the children or grandchildren, make this menu, and get ready to be goofy.  Remember to always celebrate the family table

HAM AND CHEESE CRESCENT ROLL

1 can crescent rolls

Ham slices

American cheese slices/halved in triangle shape

Open the crescent rolls and unroll into 8 triangles. Lay 1-2 slices of ham on each triangle and add the halved sliced cheese on top.  Roll up and bake at 375 degrees until they’re golden brown.

SUNSHINE COOKIES

Sugar cookies, purchased from grocery bakery

1 can lemon flavored frosting

Candy corn

Candy for eyes and mouth (you can use mini-M & M’s, red-hot candies, chocolate chips, etc.)

Yellow sprinkle sugar

Frost the cookies with the lemon frosting, sprinkle with sugar.  Add candy corn around the edges of the cookies to look like a sun. Add whatever candies you have on hand to make the eyes and mouth.

Enjoy some great food and make some memories together in the kitchen as a family. You’ll be so glad you did!
