Don't forget to make some memories!

Crispy Rice Easter Treats

Crispy Rice Easter Treats

Spring is here and all the changes that come with it. We see all the bright, new colors, hear the sounds of birds singing, and feel the warmth of the sun. After the winter, it is such a welcomed change! With the arrival of spring, comes Easter and the celebration of our risen Lord. Easter brings special activities and services in our churches. We also have Easter Egg Hunts for the children in our communities and usually following the Easter Sunday meal.

I have a treat to add to your Easter table. It’s a great snack to involve your children in preparing. So simple and so cute! The recipe starts with an all time favorite and then adds a few decorations to complete these festive treats.

Memories and traditions are such a big part of holidays. Keeping them simple allows children to add their part to these celebrations. So gather the few ingredients needed, gather with your family in the kitchen, and make some Easter memories.

Using this time in the kitchen is the perfect opportunity to talk about the meaning and importance of this Easter Celebration. Happy Easter and remember to always celebrate the family table!

CRISPY RICE EASTER TREATS

3 tablespoons butter

4 cups miniature marshmallows

6 cups crispy rice cereal

1 can vanilla frosting

Easter egg shaped candy or jelly beans

Green food color

Crispy Treats:

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium low heat.  Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove the pan from the heat; add the cereal. Stir until well coated. Press the mixture into a 13 x 9-inch pan that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Lightly spray hands to use to press the mixture into the pa.  Using a 2 ½ inch round biscuit or cookie cutter, cut the treats in circles.

Frosting:

Place the frosting in a small bowl and add a few drops of green food color. Stir to combine. Pipe or spread frosting on top of the Crispy Treat round. Decorate using your egg shaped candy or jelly beans.
