Chill in the Air – Fire in Our Hearts

Chill in the Air – Fire in Our Hearts

As the weather chills and the leaves turn beautiful colors, let’s use the sights, sounds, and smells of autumn to teach our children to pray.

ACORNS

The potential within a single tiny acorn is staggering. It may give birth to a ginormous oak, as well as the acorns it produces year after year after year. Each of those acorns has the capacity to produce a tree filled with more acorns year after year after year.

May our children and their children

be as mighty oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord,

producing seed and spiritual fruit that cannot be humanly measured (Is. 61:3).

CHILLING TEMPERATURES

As temperatures cool, may we be inspired to pray,

May our hearts become hot, fiercely devoted

to King Jesus and the expansion of His Kingdom (Rev. 3:14-16).

CINNAMON

May our prayers be set before You as fragrant incense,

the lifting of our hands as the evening sacrifice (Ps. 141:2).

FIELDS

While driving through the country, fields remind us to pray,

Lord of the Harvest, please send laborers out into Your fields.

Send my family. Send us and spend us (Matt. 9:38)

SCENTED CANDLES

May we be set on fire to love and serve You

igniting a global Awakening.

May my children enjoy a desperation to lead as many

people as possible into Your Love.

May we faithfully diffuse the fragrance of Christ throughout the earth,

drawing others to the refreshing and breathtaking Love of our Lord.

THANKSGIVING

It’s an activity that brings us into the presence of God. Every time we see the color orange or the word “Thanksgiving”, let’s encourage our children to name three things they’re thankful for. Then we can share that we’re thankful for them—our highest treasures. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way!

TURKEY

One child suggested that we not be “gobbled up” by the affairs of this life (2 Tim. 2:4). But then, I guess this turkey is what life looks like when our appetites for the world overpower our appetites for God. How about,

May our food be to do Your Will.
