Chill in the Air – Fire in Our Hearts

Posted by on Nov 4, 2016 in A LASTING FAITH, Blog, Prayers and Promises | 0 comments

As the weather chills and the leaves turn beautiful colors, let’s use the sights, sounds, and smells of autumn to teach our children to pray. ACORNS The potential within a single tiny acorn is staggering. It may give birth to a ginormous oak, as well as the acorns it produces year after year after year. Each of those acorns has the capacity to produce a tree filled with more acorns year after year after year. May our children and their children be as mighty oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, producing seed and spiritual fruit that cannot be humanly measured (Is. 61:3). CHILLING TEMPERATURES As temperatures cool, may we be inspired to pray, May our hearts become hot, fiercely devoted to King Jesus and the expansion of His Kingdom (Rev. 3:14-16). CINNAMON May our prayers be set before You as...

The Making of a True Champion

Do you have a child who sits on the sidelines or do you have one who is in the center of every key athletic play? How can you give your children healthy perspectives about their activities and how can you pray for them?   If they play soccer or basketball, a net reminds us to pray, May our children not be entangled by the things of this world, that they will always desire to please God (2 Tim. 2:4). When running, May they run the race of life with endurance, carrying the gospel at all times and into all nations. When crowds are watching, May our children always remember that they are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses cheering them on. May they throw off every distraction and sin, faithfully running the race You have set...

Don’t Stop Them!

Posted by on Sep 14, 2016 in A LASTING FAITH, Blog, Prayers and Promises | 0 comments

There are prayers we can pray and actions we can take to save our children and ourselves a lot of mistakes and heartache. This strategy has been so effective with our children that I want to share it with you. Let’s pray, Father, please grant my children a passion for Your house. He will. Kristina was ready for church when I arrived home from work, exhausted, saturated with sweat, no makeup. Preparations for the following workday would keep me up until midnight. Walking through our ninth summer, I urged, “Sweetheart, I don’t see how we can possibly make it to church tonight. What if . . ..” As she gently displayed her disappointment, God spoke to my heart with very strong biblical words, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to...

The Mother Lie

Posted by on Aug 4, 2016 in A LASTING FAITH, Blog, Prayers and Promises | 0 comments

If you’re not among them, you know many women who are victims of the mother lie. You know, the one that says that motherhood isn’t important, isn’t vital. It’s a lie that has devastated families and thereby devastated nations. It was birthed in the bowels of darkness, a message demeaning the significance of motherhood. But we are mothers by God’s design. Fearfully and wonderfully, He knit within us the vessels through which He would deliver every individual who would ever take a breath here on earth. Without us, without you….pause and think about it. And consider Mary. She washed baby bottoms and swaddling cloths, bandaged wounds, wiped away tears, fed her family, played with her children, maintained their home, resolved conflict among siblings, and planted the holy seed of biblical truth deep within their hearts. I’m here to sear...

See the World – Change the World

Posted by on Jul 8, 2016 in A LASTING FAITH, Blog, Prayers and Promises | 0 comments

There’s got to be a better way. It’s become common to hand the kids a digital device or put in a movie when hitting the road for a family vacation. But how can we seize the opportunity to bond with God, one another, and change the world? Let’s pray! Purchase a notebook to post conversations, activities, and prayers. While family members compete in identifying tags from other states, log them into the notebook and discuss how to pray for the people living in or visiting that state. Have they experienced a tragedy? Drought? Flood? Pray for their families, government, farmers, industries… Have a Bible “sword drill” by looking up the numbers on car tags. For example, the tag from our rental car had the number “119”. We always love reading Psalm 119. We cannot hide every objectionable billboard or...

Color My World with God, Children, and Prayer

Posted by on Jun 8, 2016 in A LASTING FAITH, Blog, Prayers and Promises | 0 comments

Have you ever colored or painted a picture with your children while talking about colors and their symbolism in the Bible? Even better, how can we teach them to associate colors with simple, specific prayers? Red is one of our favorite colors, representing the blood Jesus shed for our sins. Talking about His love is a great opportunity to talk about how we should love one another, just as Jesus loved us. Since red also represents passion, we can share a prayer. Father, please grant us a passion for You, Your Word, Your will, Your wisdom, Your world, and holiness. Orange moves us think of pumpkins, oranges, and autumn leaves. Lord of the harvest, send out laborers into Your fields (Matt. 9:38). Here we are—send me, my family, my friends, my church. Most children and adults use yellow to color...
