Don't forget to make some memories!

Adding Some Coastal Touches

Adding Some Coastal Touches

The forward progress of the year hasn’t slowed, and if anything it feels accelerated! The lazy days of summer are progressively giving way to the return of routine, school and football. As we return to a more regulated schedule, you may find yourself longing for the days of relaxing in the sun at the beach, mountainside by the lake, or exploring new ground at a special vacation spot. Adding some coastal touches is a great way to add a few reminders of your favorite spots this summer. Coastal accents can be added easily as an accent to your main décor and can be found in the form of lamps, wall art, and more.

The really fun thing about coastal is that it doesn’t have to be very traditional looking either. If you are looking for something a little more modern and fun – coastal fits right in with fun prints and decor like these!  Notice the metallics make a home also in the midst of the coastal décor.  This is a great way to layer different trends together!

Don’t forget having reminders in other rooms besides just the main rooms of your home. The kids should have a fun reminder of an ocean visit, or great boat ride too. I personally even like the idea of adding in a fun accent in my laundry room. Sometimes a reminder of a great family vacation while I’m running the washer for the third time today brings a smile to my face.

I do hope you have had a great time connecting with your family. The relaxed mornings and easier schedules tend to allow more one on one time than we seem to find in the normal days. Reunions with family members that are spread out across the nation is another advantage of summer schedules. I am thankful for the opportunity to spend more time with my children and husband during the summer and I’m always a little sad when it ends. Summer’s fun may be closing but we can hold on to the sweet memories with a unique reminder of those fun times and look forward to the possibility of more days together ahead.
